How to Find the Right Menopause Doctor for You

Going through menopause can be tough, and having the right doctor to help you makes a big difference. Choosing the right doctor depends on what you’re looking for and what kind of support you need.

In-Person or Remote Appointments

The first thing to think about is whether you want to see a doctor in person or if you're comfortable with a remote (video or telephone) appointment. Some people prefer face-to-face appointments, but many find remote appointments more convenient, especially when they’re busy or don’t want to travel. At our clinic, we offer remote appointments, so you can chat with the doctor from home, either by phone or video. Our nursing team in Canterbury can carry out follow-up menopause blood tests if needed.

How Long Should the Appointment Be?

How much time you want with the doctor is important. If you need lots of time to explain how you’re feeling and talk through options, it’s worth finding a service that lets you choose a longer appointment.

At our clinic, you can pick between 15 and 45-minute appointments, depending on how much time you feel you need. This flexibility means you can have a quick chat or a longer conversation about your symptoms without feeling rushed.

Holistic Care vs. Focused Care

Another thing to consider is whether the doctor takes a “whole-body” approach to your care, or if they focus purely on your menopause symptoms. Some doctors focus on treating menopause symptoms directly, like prescribing hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which works well for many people.

On the other hand, you might prefer a doctor who looks at the bigger picture—someone who thinks about your lifestyle as well as medical treatments. Our doctor has a special interest in lifestyle medicine, so she’ll talk to you about things like diet, exercise, and managing stress, as well as medicines like HRT. This approach helps you make changes to your overall lifestyle while also managing your menopause symptoms.

Finding the Right Menopause Doctor for You

There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to choosing a menopause doctor. Think about what’s important to you: Do you want more time to talk during your appointment? Do you want a doctor who considers your whole lifestyle? Would you prefer a remote or in-person appointment? Being clear about what you expect will help you find the right service.

We can help if you’re comfortable with a remote appointment. Our doctor will look at your overall lifestyle as well as medical treatments to help you manage menopause. Whether you need a quick chat or a longer appointment, we’re here to support you.

What Our Patients Say

I had a brilliant consultation with Kate, she was warm understanding and knowledgeable and spent the time going through HRT, my concerns and whether it was time for me to commence it. She recommended the HRT so all I needed to do was call my own GP and discuss which HRT I wanted. This service worked brilliantly as I had plenty of time to discuss the medication and symptoms with Kate and could enter my appointment with my GP, who was really pushed for time and already running 30 minutes late, knowledgeable and had a nice quick consultation which she was really grateful for. Thank you again can't recommend this enough.

I can't tell you how lovely it is to deal with you. So polite and efficient. The last company I was with could learn a thing or two or ten from you.

Finding the right menopause doctor is about knowing what kind of support you need. If you want a doctor who offers both lifestyle advice and medical solutions, and you're happy with remote appointments, we’d love to help.
